Six arrested in narcotics sweep

Region Filler

Police arrested a number of suspected drug dealers Thursday in the culmination of an extensive narcotics investigation.

Six people were arrested in what Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams said was a regular round-up of narcotics suspects.

David Buka, 57, is charged with one count of dealing heroin. John M. Grubb, 44, is charged with one count of dealing methamphetamine. Stacy C. Grubb, 40, is charged with four counts of dealing methamphetamine. Timothy Prince, 39, is charged with possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. Brandon Scales, 31, is charged with two counts of dealing methamphetamine. Jeremy Tarter, 33, is charged with one count of dealing heroin.

Aside from Prince’s marijuana possession charge, a misdemeanor, all the charges are low-level felonies.

All of the arrests, except for the arrest of Prince, took place without incident, Kellams said. Detectives going to an address on the 600 block of West That Road, where John and Stacy Grubb live and were arrested, saw a black Dodge pick-up truck that they knew to be Prince’s in the driveway.

After leaving the house, the detectives saw the truck drive past them at high speed. Eventually, they were able to stop the truck, driven by Prince, and arrest him. Kellams said police are also investigating the truck as being stolen because it had false tags and its vehicle identification numbers had been removed.

All those arrested were taken to Monroe County Correctional Center.

“We like to make a statement to the drug community that we’re out there,” Kellams said. “When you go out and hit a number of people that are dealing drugs, you send a message to the other drug dealers.
