Miami running back commits to Hoosiers

Sports Filler

The Hoosiers earned their 21st commitment of the class of 2017 when Miami running back Craig Nelson announced via Twitter his commitment to IU.

“I will like to thank my family and my friends for supporting me through this long process,” Nelson said in his tweet. “Also, I will like to thank my coaching staff over at Booker T Washington ... for pushing me to be the best student athlete I can be. With that being said I will like to announce that I am officially committed to Indiana University!!!”

Nelson had one other offer from Idaho and drew interest from programs like Purdue, Syracuse and Western Michigan. IU running backs coach Deland McCullough, who recruited former Hoosiers and now professional running backs Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard, was Nelson’s lead recruiter for the Hoosiers.

According to scout.com, Nelson is a 2-star running back. He boasts a 4.77 40-yard dash time and a 31.5-inch vertical jump.

Nelson is the only true running back to commit to the Hoosiers so far in the class of 2017.

National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 1.
