Two Hoosiers were named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com preseason All-America teams Sunday.
Senior midfielder Tanner Thompson was named to the first team while junior defender Grant Lillard was named to the second team. Both Thompson and Lillard have been garnering some preseason praise as they were also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list back in July.
A season ago, Thompson was the Big Ten midfielder of the year and was a third-team All American by NSCAA. As for Lillard, he is coming off of a season where he was named to the First-Team All-Big Ten Team.
Thompson and Lillard figure to be key contributors this season for a Hoosiers squad ranked No. 15 overall in the NSCAA preseason poll. The duo will be tested as they are scheduled to face the No. 1, 4, 9, 16, 18 and 25 ranked teams this season, according to the preseason poll.
Their exhibition slate gets going Tuesday vs. Loyola-Chicago at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana at 7 pm. That is a change in location from the previously scheduled game in Bloomington at 7:30pm.
