Grammy winning folk rock duo to perform

The Grammy Award-winning group Indigo Girls will perform in March at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.

The group is an American folk rock duo consisting of musicians Emily Saliers and Amy Ray. They met when they were in elementary school, and they began performing during high school.

They have performed together for 35 years.

The Indigo Girls have performed around the world, and they earned one Grammy Award and seven Grammy nominations.

“We really work hard to not lean on any tried and true path in making our albums,” Ray said on the Indigo Girls website. “So when it comes to writing new songs and working and performing with different musicians, every record and every tour feels like a completely different adventure for us.”

They were described as “ideal duet partners” by Rolling Stone, according to the group's website.

The group shares “the same set of values,” Saliers said in the Buskirk-Chumley press release.

“We both embrace the struggle, share the same energy,” Saliers said in the release. “We are sisters in our embrace of life.”

The group’s 16th studio album, “One Lost Day,” came out in June.

The last album is “vast in its reach, but unified by the traveler’s sense of wonder, gratitude, and empathy,” according to its website.

The Indigo Girls will perform March 22. Tickets are $40 to $50 and will be available to the public at 11 p.m. Friday.
