FINAL: IU 7, Penn State 29

Starting at quarterback and running back for the Hoosiers were sophomore quarterback Zander Diamont and sophomore running back Devine Redding, who replaced senior quarterback Nate Sudfeld and junior running back Jordan Howard, respectively.

Beaver Stadium was packed by the beginning of the game, as Saturday is Penn State's Homecoming weekend.

After trading four consecutive drives ending in punts, the scoreless tie was broken midway through the first quarter when Penn State junior quarterback Christian Heckenberg found wide receiver Brandon Polk along the sideline for 39 yards and a touchdown.

In the ensuing drive though, Diamont led IU on an eight-play, 65-yard drive, including two catches by junior receiver Isaac Griffith and a scramble around the edge for a touchdown with 4:11 left in the first quarter.

By the end of the quarter, the teams were tied at seven.

After an onside kick recovery and a fumble recovery, the Hoosiers could not capitalize on the favorable field position, punting to the Nittany Lions both times.

Penn State then scored on two consecutive drives, one on a 39-yard pass from Hackenberg to receiver DaeSean Hamilton and another on a goal line bootleg from Hackenberg.

With 3:08 to go in the half, Penn State led IU 19-7, after two missed extra points by Penn State kicker Joey Julius.

The Half would end with Penn State leading 19-7.

Diamont finished the half going 5-for-12 with 48 yards passing and 23 yards rushing.

Redding finished the half with 10 carries for 27 yards

Beginning the second half with the ball, IU went three-and-out and responded by forcing a three-and-out against Penn State.

In its second drive of the half though, IU saw Diamont go down with an injury after being awkwardly brought down in his throwing motion, causing IU Coach Kevin Wilson to send the third string quarterback, freshman Danny Cameron, onto the field.

Going scoreless throughout the rest of the quarter, the two teams traded punts and remained at 19-7.

After a Cameron interception at the Penn State 48 yard line, the Nittany Lions drove down the field, capped off by a Hackenberg five-yard rush into the endzone, putting the score at 26-7 and giving Hackenberg his first game with multiple rushing touchdowns.

In Penn State's next drive, the Nittany Lions drove into the IU redzone but were stopped at the 13 yard line and kicked a 30-yard field goal to jump to an even larger lead, 29-7, with 3:33 left in the game.

IU would see the ball two more times after the field goal and punt to end both drives.

Penn State ran the clock out to end the game with a score of 29-7, dropping IU to 4-2 and improving its own record to 5-1.

Danny Cameron finished the game going 6-for-16 with 65 yards passing and one interception.

IU's leading rusher was Diamont with 38 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown.
