Donwan Townsley, 26, was arrested Saturday near Bryan Park due to a 2014 rape charge, according to police records.
Townsley is a Bloomington resident who is currently transient, without an address.
According to police records, he is the suspect in a case that occurred at 3:30 a.m., Aug. 23, 2014, at the 1300 block of North Lincoln Street.
The female victim woke up to a male performing sex acts and attempting to have sex with her.
She fought him and he ran out of the house. None of the residents in the house knew Townsley, and it is unknown how he got into the house, according to police records.
DNA evidence was collected, and the results match the DNA of the suspect, according to police records.
Bloomington police officers received information yesterday that Townsley would be in Bryan Park, and a photo of Townsley was circulated, according to police records.
Officers arrested the suspect at noon Sept. 26 near Bryan Park, according to police records.
The crime is considered a level 3 felony, which carries a penalty of 3-16 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
