Eight walk-on players receive scholarships

IU Athletic Director Fred Glass swung by IU football practice last week with an announcement.

IU Coach Kevin Wilson let him take over as the team was huddled up on their knees.

He called eight walk-on players to come up front and then announced he was awarding the players full scholarships.

The eight players were sophomore cornerback Ben Bach, senior punter Eric Toth, sophomore kicker Griffin Oakes, senior tight ends Anthony Corsaro and Michael Cooper, junior receiver Mitchell Paige, senior receiver Damon Graham and freshman running back Ricky Brookins.

Wilson has awarded 41 walk-on scholarships since he began coaching at IU in 2011.

He has two more available scholarships for this year.

All eight are players expected to be in competition to play this fall. Toth, Oakes and Paige are currently No. 1 on their respective depth chart positions.

Bach, Corsaro and Cooper are competing for top spots as well.
