Hoosiers gain 6th commitment in Ohio defensive back

From IDS reports

IU continues to gain ground in the state of Ohio as defensive back A’Shon Riggins announced his commitment to IU on ?Monday.

Riggins is a 3-star prospect according to 247sports and had IU, Illinois and West Virginia in his top three schools. He is listed at 6-feet tall and 165 pounds.

“Proud to say that I will be extending my education and football career at Indiana University. #Hoosiers,” Riggins tweeted.

He became IU’s sixth commit and third from the state of Ohio.

Earlier in the summer, Riggins said he was waiting to see what defensive backs IU might bring with him if he were to commit.

His commitment ended up coming two days after Florida defensive back Khalil Bryant committed ?to IU.

He said Bryant’s commitment played a role.

“He’s a great safety, and it is going to be a great thing playing in the secondary with him,” Riggins said.

In the end, comfort was what sold Riggins on IU. He liked the team and is now the third commit for IU in as many days.

“I really just fit in with the guys and the program,” Riggins said. “And, on top of that, its location is convenient for my family.”
