Four commits in three days for IU football as Florida wide receiver switches commitment

From IDS reports

Just two weeks ago, IU was last in the Big Ten with only one commitment in the 2016 class. Even a week ago, IU had only three. The flipping of commitment for Florida wide receiver Phil Benker from UCF to IU gave the Hoosiers’ their seventh of eight prospects.

Benker, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver out of Jacksonville, Florida, was first offered by IU in late May. He visited Bloomington over the weekend and committed to IU on Monday. He is IU’s forth commitment in three days.

“After long, hard thoughts and discussions with my family, I have decided to flip my commitment to Indiana University,” Benker posted on Twitter.

He thanked UCF for allowing him to be a part of its family but said he had to make a “business decision.”

Benker is considered to be a 3-star prospect by 247sports and compiled 1,061 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns in his junior season.

After the Wednesday commitment of Cole Gest, IU is now 12th in the Big Ten with eight commitments in 2016.
