Joyce Rogers to speak at Baccalaureate

Joyce Rogers, IU vice president for development and external relations in the IU office of the vice president for diversity, equity and multicultural affairs, will speak at this year’s Baccalaureate, according to a ?University press release.

Drawing from the teachings and practices of the Baha’i faith, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Unitarian Universalism, Baccalaureate is an interfaith celebration of academic achievement, according to the release.

The ceremony will include prayers, meditation, music and celebration.

Rogers earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Indiana State University and a law degree from the IU McKinney School of Law, according to the release. She then served as the vice president for development at Ivy Tech Community College, before serving as the CEO and president of Indiana Black Expo Inc.

Rogers currently serves as a member on boards and organizations, including the Bowen Family Foundation, the Circle City chapter of The Links Inc., The Mind Trust, the Health and Hospital Corporation and the Madame C.J. Walker Theatre.

This year’s Baccalaureate will begin at 11 a.m. May 8 in the Whittenberger Auditorium of the Indiana Memorial Union, ?according to the release.

Pay parking will be available at the IMU, the Sixth Street parking garage between Dunn Street and Indiana Avenue and the Jordan Avenue parking garage between Third Street and Seventh Street.

A reception will follow the ceremony, according to the release.

Admission to both events is free, and no registration is required.
