Despite junior Caleb Baragar allowing just one run through seven innings, IU (16-6, 1-2) was not able to pull out a win against Iowa (15-6, 1-0) Friday afternoon, falling 2-0.
It is just the third time in the last 20 games against the Hawkeyes that the Hoosiers have lost.
Junior Tyler Peyton threw a complete game and gave up just five hits and no walks for Iowa, while striking out five. IU’s loss comes three days after pitching a shut-out of its own against No. 7 Louisville.
It was the first time IU has been shut-out in its last 76 games.
Sophomore outfielder Craig Dedelow had two hits for the Hoosiers.
Sophomore Jake Kelzer will get the start in game two which will start at 3 p.m. Saturday in Iowa City.
