Hoosier offense scores 15 runs in win against Charleston

After falling in game one Friday, the IU baseball team bounced back to beat the College of Charleston 15-1 in game two Saturday.

It was an offensive explosion for the Hoosiers (4-4), led by senior second baseman Casey Rodrigue who had four RBI’s. Senior outfielder Will Nolden and sophomore outfielder Craig Dedelow each had three RBI’s, while sophomore infielder Austin Cangelosi drove in two.

Rodrigue and freshman outfielder Logan Sowers each collected three hits, two of Rodrigue’s were triples.

Sophomore Christian Morris got the start on the mound and pitched six innings, allowing just one run which was unearned, on five hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter. He picked up his first win of the year (1-0).

Sophomore Thomas Belcher and senior Ryan Halstead slammed the door out of the bullpen to seal the IU victory.

Junior Eric Bauer started for the College of Charleston (5-3), and pitched seven innings, allowing five runs, all earned. It wasn’t until the eighth inning that the Hoosiers opened the game up, scoring ten runs in the final two innings.

The 15 runs scored were the most scored by an IU team since it scored 16 against Miami (OH) last season.

Game three of the series is set for noon on Sunday.
