?IU adds 3-star defensive end to 2015 class

With National Signing day rapidly approaching, IU picked up its 18th commitment to its 2015 class Sunday with the verbal commitment of 247sports 3-star linebacker Brandon Wilson.

“Brandon Wilson is a #IU Hoosier,” Wilson tweeted Sunday night.

Wilson—no relation to IU Coach Kevin Wilson—originally committed to Virginia in September but decommitted and flipped to IU on Sunday. He took an official visit to Bloomington on Dec. 12.

The Charlotte, N.C., native projects to fill one of IU’s spots at bandit linebacker which saw success in its first year in 2014. The linebacker-defensive lineman hybrid position was put into place with defensive coordinator Brian Knorr’s 3-4 base defense.

Wilson, listed at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, played linebacker in his first two years of high school but moved to the defensive line after an ankle injury for his junior and senior seasons.

Wilson joins Joe Belden and Jacob Robinson as defensive ends in the class. All three players are listed 3-star prospects.
