Walsh wins Midlands and Big Ten co-Wrestler of the Week

Taylor Walsh continues to accumulate more and more accomplishments as he had yet another eventful week.

The senior wrestler from Cherry Hill, N.J. took home first place in the 165-pound bracket at the 52nd Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships at Northwestern. He then went on to share Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors with Senior Bobby Telford from Iowa.

On the road to first place, Walsh pinned No. 8 Pierce Harger of Northwestern, No. 12 Jackson Morse of Illinois, Tyler Manion of Maryland and Casey Fuller of Edinboro. These four pins put him up to 18 on the season, eight shy of his school record 26 pins in a season last year.

In addition to his first place finish, he was awarded the Most Falls Award, High Points Award and the Dan Gable Most Outstanding Wrestler Award.

His career 116 wins rank eighth in school history.

Sophomore Nate Jackson was the only other IU wrestler to place as he got eighth place in the 174-pound bracket.

The Hoosiers' next event will be on January 9th when they take on Penn State in State College.
