Southside Taco Bell robbed at gunpoint

The Bloomington Police Department is searching for a man who robbed a southside Bloomington Taco Bell at gunpoint late Saturday night, BPD Sgt. Lucas Tate said.

Both BPD and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Taco Bell at 2400 S. Walnut St. at about 11 p.m. Saturday after a man pointed a silver semi-automatic handgun at employees and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money.

When police arrived, the suspect had already left and was believed to have been in the area of the former Marsh grocery store at 2424 S. Walnut St.

The Sheriff’s Office and BPD set up a perimeter and searched for the subject, described as a light-skinned black male with facial hair. He was wearing a black hat and a black coat with a hoodie.

No injuries were reported, and the firearm was not discharged.

Authorities have not located the suspect, and the case is active.
