Naked, yelling man arrested

A naked man was arrested after running from police officers and yelling at people in cars Tuesday.

Bloomington Police Department officers responded at about 10:49 p.m. to a report of a naked man yelling at cars in the 2200 block of South Rogers Street, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

When officers approached the naked man, 22-year-old James Goddard, he reportedly yelled, “Uh oh,” and began running east.

Officers chased Goddard for about 75 yards.

Goddard then laid down on the ground and was taken into custody, Crider said.

Goddard then tried to flee from officers again.

He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for an evaluation, Crider said.

A witness reported to police Goddard was yelling at people in cars and was knocking down mailboxes, Crider said.

At the hospital, Goddard told police he was under the influence of LSD, Crider said.

After being at the hospital for about two hours, Goddard said to police, “I got naked and started screaming that I wanted to have sex with people’s mothers.”

Goddard also said to police, “I thought I’d try to get away (from police).”

Goddard was arrested for public nudity, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and trespassing.
