Eli Young Band performs tonight at the Bluebird

The Eli Young Band is bringing country to the Bluebird Nightclub tonight.

The show is set to start at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are currently $22 on the Bluebird website.

The band members, who met in college at North Texas State University, are stopping in Bloomington as a part of their Drunk Last Night Tour with the Josh Abbott Band.

Dave Kubiak, owner of the Bluebird, said it’s the first time in Bloomington for both bands. He said he expects the show will draw big crowds.

“We’re expecting a big turnout,” Kubiak said. “Ticket sales have been very strong.”

The band has stayed together since it formed in 2000 when the members were in college, according to its website.

Members include main vocalist Mike Eli, guitarist James Young, bass guitarist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson.

On the band’s website, Jones is quoted saying they decided to stick together as a team before they ever found success in Nashville.

“We decided that we would be stronger, the four of us going through it together instead of just one person, which I think is the best thing about being a band,” Jones said, according to the website. “You have a group of people to share everything with — to share some of the work and keep each other grounded.”

Since that decision, the Eli Young Band has put out five albums along with their newest single, “Drunk Last Night.”

Tickets for the show are going fast, Kubiak said. Though usually tickets sell at the door, he said last minute buyers may not get a chance to see this show.

“People can buy at the door if there’s any left,” Kubiak said. “We’re thinking it may fill up before then.”
