Possible child molestation reported

The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a possible child molestation case in which the 29-year-old male suspect has agreed to cooperate, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

BPD received word July 17 from Child Protective Services about the possible molestation of a 10 year old girl by the 29-year-old man. It was reported by 24-year-old woman who described it only as inappropriate touching.

Police followed up on the report Tuesday.

As of Thursday morning, police have been unable to contact the alleged victim, but did contact the managers of a west side apartment complex where the complainant lives and the 29-year-old had been staying, though his name was not on a lease. The managers reported hearing rumors of such activity from the man.

Police made contact with the man, who denied the allegations and agreed to cooperate in the investigation.
