Illegal tent found near B-Line Trail

The Bloomington Police Department responded to suspicious activity on the B-Line Trail Tuesday after a homeless man set up a tent in the area, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

Located near pole 139, the tent was vacant Tuesday, but police returned Wednesday morning to find a 41-year-old man living in the tent.

Though not a registered sex offender due to his lack of an address, the man was considered a sexual violent offender, Crider said. He is required to report to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office every seven days.

The man's parole officer was called and arrived on the scene, but no arrests were made. The tent has since been removed, as camping on city property is illegal.
