Child molestation reported to police by grandmother

An 8-year-old female reported to her grandmother that she had been touched inappropriately by a 23-year-old male, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.

The child’s grandmother called and reported this incidence of child molestation to the police July 21 at approximately 2:50 p.m.

This incident allegedly occurred in a residence on the south side of Bloomington when the child was being watched by the 23-year-old male, the grandmother said.

This case has been assigned to a detective.

The Department of Child Services was notified and at some point a forensic interview will be set up at Susie’s Place, police said.
