Sexual assault reported at Motel 6

Bloomington Police Department officers responded to a sexual assault report at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1800 block of North Walnut Street, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

Patrons in the Motel 6 complex indicated an “extremely impaired” 37-year-old woman staying in a room. The motel manager went to the room to conduct a welfare check and confirmed the woman was intoxicated and nearly passed-out. When the manager asked the woman questions, she was unable to answer coherently, Crider said.

Police responding to the scene indicated the woman was impaired by some sort of prescription medication, though they were unable to determine the type or amount she had taken.

Due to her physical and mental state, the woman was transported to IU Health for treatment. At that time, she claimed to be the victim of sexual assault, Crider said. IU Health employees would later say she indicated the same to them.

Police wanted to interview the woman about the alleged sexual assault, but she was unable to answer due to her condition, Crider said.

The case has been forwarded to detectives to confirm if the woman was a sexual assault victim or if she would pursue charges.
