Man reports missing vehicle at Arby's

A 58-year-old man reported his car went missing from the Arby’s parking lot on South Walnut Street within the last week, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.

The victim was sitting in his blue Chevrolet pickup truck in the parking lot during the early morning of June 13 when a second car pulled up beside his. The second male driver reportedly asked the suspect if he wanted to take the man’s girlfriend on a date for money.

The victim, who did not know either occupant of the second vehicle, said he declined their offer, but was set to give them an undisclosed sum of cash to help them out.

At that point, the second male reportedly took the victim’s wallet and keys, and then left the scene in his original vehicle, Crider said.

The victim said he took a taxi home to find his spare car keys. After returning to his car on June 20, one week after the incident, the victim said his vehicle was gone. He then reported the incident to the police at the BPD Headquarters.
