People's Park to marry music with mealtime

Lunch on Kirkwood Avenue just got a little more festive.

The People’s Park Tuesday Lunch Concert Series kicks off Tuesday as part of the Bloomington Parks and Recreation’s summer 2013 Performing Arts Series.

The event will run every Tuesday through August 27. People’s Park, located at the northeast corner of Kirkwood Avenue and North Dunn Street, attracts people looking for something different to do on their lunch breaks during the summer.

Tuesday’s first concert will bring Afro-Hoosier Int'l, a 10-member band featuring alto and tenor sax, flute, bass, guitar, keyboard and various percussions. Considered an Afro-pop or Afro-beat band with Latin and reggae influences, this band plays with an array of eclectic sounds.
