Teens report man with gun stole cash

The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a reported armed robbery involving a group of men, one wielding a handgun.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 2400 block of South Broadview Drive at about 11:40 p.m. Monday, BPD Sgt. Joseph Crider said.

Two males, ages 17 and 19, told police they were sitting in a garage area behind the residence when three unknown men approached.

One of the men, described as 6 feet tall, thin and having facial hair, carried a black handgun. The man reportedly punched the 19-year-old, ordered both victims to the ground and stole the 19-year-old’s wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash.

A second suspect, described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and average build, was said to be carrying pepper spray, Crider said. The third suspect, also about 5 feet 8 inches tall and average build, was unarmed, victims told police.

The 19-year-old was not transported to the hospital.

Those with information pertaining to the case are asked to contact BPD Detective Chris Guidry at 812-339-4477.
