16-year-old reportedly attempts cash robbery

A 16-year-old girl was arrested Monday afternoon after reportedly attempting to rob a woman in the parking lot of Old National Bank, 4191 West 3rd St.

The victim had just finished depositing a check at the bank, she told police, when the suspect approached her from behind and demanded all the victim’s money, Bloomington Police Department Lt. Steve Kellams said.

The victim told the suspect she did not have any money because she just deposited it all, to which the suspect reportedly said, “Well, consider this your lucky day.”

The suspect then climbed into a maroon Cadillac and drove away, the victim told police.
BPD detectives located the car at a nearby residence, Kellams said, and detectives were able to contact the suspect. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of narcotic drugs and was arrested on the 5400 block of West State Road 48 and preliminary charged with attempted robbery.

The suspect was transported to the Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village, a juvenile detention center in Vincennes, Ind.
