Woman reports inappropriate unwanted contact in bathroom

Bloomington police are investigating a possible sexual assault after a woman reported being inappropriately touched by a male acquaintance.

Officers responded to McDonald's on the east side at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday in reference to a prior sexual assault, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joseph Crider said Friday.

The victim, 22, told police she and her boyfriend had been drinking at the South Park Ridge Road residence of an acquaintance earlier that evening. At about 9 p.m. Wednesday, the victim told police, the 39-year-old male acquaintance touched her inappropriately on her buttocks and genitalia in an apartment bathroom.

She told police she later fell asleep on a living room couch with her boyfriend. While laying there awake, she told police, she observed the 39-year-old masturbating in the kitchen area.

The woman and the 39-year-old then became involved in a verbal argument at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, wherein the man instructed the victim and her boyfriend to leave his residence, Crider said. The woman and her boyfriend left, and the woman reported the incident a few hours later.

The case has been forwarded to BPD detectives.
