Woman reports possible rape

A woman reported to Bloomington police she might have been raped during early morning hours Jan. 1.

The 27-year-old reported the incident on location at the Bloomington Police Department Friday.

After the she reported the incident, detectives transported her to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where she received an examination, BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said.

The woman reportedly attended a New Year’s Eve party on the 600 block of South Pleasant Ridge Road, Cole said. During an interview with police, the woman said she consumed alcohol at the party and blacked out.

She told the police the next thing she remembered, Cole said, was waking up in a bed at the site of the party next to the male subject.

The woman reportedly asked the man if the two had engaged in sexual intercourse, and the man told her they had.

She could not recall whether the act had been consensual. The two reportedly met at the party, and the man had also consumed alcohol.

Officers have not yet interviewed the man, Cole said.
