IU looks to ride Michigan win

Softball vs. Butler

The IU softball team will travel to Louisville, Ky., today to take on the Cardinals in a non-conference matchup.

The Hoosiers will look to maintain the momentum from the weekend after upsetting No. 3 Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. At 20-14 (2-2 in Big Ten play), the Hoosiers have won eight of their last 10 games.

“I definitely think we need to keep the confidence up and continue to go out knowing we can beat anybody,” Olson said. “And keep working together as a team, keeping our heads up, looking for the next game and taking it one game at a time.”

The Hoosiers have already won eight more games than all of last season.

IU coach Michelle Gardner said she believes the key to her team’s continuing its success is being aggressive at the plate and forcing the defense to react.

“We have to come out putting the ball in play and that was the biggest difference for us,” she said. “That we just kept putting the ball in play and going at them.”
