IU rolls past Valparaiso, 11-2

Sophomore outfielder Alex Dickerson had three hits, including his 14th home run of the season, and drove in three runs to help IU improve to a 16-15 record on the season with an 11-2 victory against Valparaiso.

Five Hoosier pitchers combined to hold the Crusaders to just two runs on eight hits. Freshman pitcher Jerry Kleman picked up the win, going three innings, striking out three and giving up three hits.

Among the five pitchers to throw Tuesday was new roster addition Alex Zerman, who threw two innings, surrendering three hits, while striking out a pair in his debut.

Sophomore catcher Josh Lyon hit his sixth home run of the season, blasting a towering solo shot to left in the third inning. He is now slugging .682 on the season. Junior first baseman Jerrud Sabourin doubled, drove in two runs, and walked twice, improving his on-base percentage to an astounding .482.

The Hoosiers return to action for a three-game series at home against Iowa this weekend.
