Hoosiers falter in two losses to Ball State

Despite a key victory over Evansville on Tuesday, IU’s momentum did not continue in its two losses against Ball State.

“First game the energy was not so good, but I think after that Coach got us fired up in the second game,” freshman pitcher Jessica Dobson said.

In ther first matchup, the Hoosiers lost 5-2 to the Cardinals.

Freshman infielder Breanna Saucedo went 2 for 4 and scored the Hoosiers lone two runs.

Senior pitcher Elizabeth Milian struck out eight in the game and got her 19th complete game of the year.

A lack of power at the plate early in the game hurt the Hoosiers.

In the second game, it didn’t get any better as the Hoosiers lost 9-1 in five innings.

Louisville freshman infielder Madison Diederich went 2 for 2 with her first career home run in the game. Senior infielder Kristin King went 1 for 2, getting one of the Hoosiers four hits in the game.

The pitching by the Cardinals was a major factor in the Hoosiers’ lack of hitting.

Dobson said although her team lost, they are still working hard to improve.

“I think winning is contagious and I think today is going to motivate us to keep going and try our best to win,” she said.
