Hoosiers drop 10th straight

In an effort to end a nine-game losing streak, the Hoosiers fell short in their 11-0 loss to No. 23 Louisville at home.

The game ended in the sixth inning after the 8-run mercy rule was triggered.

Tomorrow’s double-header against Evansville will be postponed to April 13 due to weather conditions.

Louisville catcher Melissa Roth went two-for-three at the plate with a two run home run in the top of the fourth inning.

“In the Big Ten there are a lot of hits and Louisville had a lot of hits this game,” senior outfielder Kelli Ritchison said of the Cardinals’ 14 hits.

In contrast, Louisville pitcher Tori Collins had a one hitter through 4 1/3 innings.
IU only was able to muster three total hits in the game.

One positive area for the Hoosiers came on defense, as they finished with zero errors.

“We just have to keep winning those little battles like errors today,” IU coach Michelle Gardner said.

The Cardinals scored four runs in the first inning and sixth inning, respectively.

The Hoosiers look to end their 10-game losing streak at Indiana State on March 30.

“As long as they stay together as a team we will be alright,” Gardner said.
