EVANSTON, Ill. - At halftime between IU and Northwestern on Saturday in Evanston, Ill., the Hoosiers lead 28-17.
On the first play from scrimmage, IU began with a 70-yard run by freshman running back Darius Willis down the left sideline for the 7-0 lead.
With 3:39 remaining in the first quarter, IU junior quarterback Ben Chappell added to his team’s total with a 1-yard run into the end zone.
On their next possession, Willis took it in from three-yards out and the 21-0 lead.
After a field goal by Northwestern, the Hoosiers made the score 28-3 after IU senior cornerback Ray Fisher returned the kickoff 93-yards.
But the Wildcats were not out of it.
Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka took it in for a touchdown from one-yard out with 4:07 remaining from half.
After a defensive stop, the Wildcats struck again on an eight-yard pass from Kafka to wide receiver Zeke Markshausen to make the score 28-17.
Northwestern will receive after halftime.
