Lynch, football staff land Ohio safety Jefferson

Class of 2010 safety Shaquille Jefferson decided earlier today his college football days will be spent in Bloomington.

Jefferson is the No. 9 safety in the state of Ohio, according to OhioVarsity.com. The site also ranks him No. 95 overall in the state.

The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect had also received offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Toledo, according to Rivals.com. He had also seen interest from Michigan, Ohio State, Ball State, Kent State and Ohio prior to his Friday commitment.

Jefferson is the eighth commitment to come from the state of Ohio. He is the 22nd overall pickup by IU football coach Bill Lynch and his staff for the class of 2010.
